One hundred pennies make one U.S. dollar.

Twenty nickels make one U.S. dollar.

Ten dimes make one U.S. dollar.

Four quarters make one U.S. dollar.

Two half dollars make one U.S. dollar.

This coin represents one complete U.S. dollar.
Recognize and count the coins
Connect each coin's name, printed value, shape, color, and relative size. Then practice the value sequence 1, 5, 10, 25, 50, 100 until the denominations feel familiar.
- Pennies add 1 cent at a time.
- Nickels count by fives.
- Dimes count by tens.
- Quarters count in steps of 25 cents.
A dime is smaller than a nickel, even though it is worth twice as much.
